The Greenstone Project Process (Part 2 of 3)

March 14, 2022

To help our followers and potential customers better understand the process of working with the project team at Greenstone Building Products, we’re reviewing our project process in a 3-part blog series. In our previous post we covered the first steps in the Greenstone project process, and now we move on to part 2 where we will cover the in-house steps before the ICE Panels hit the production floor, as well as a number of steps that help ensure the panels are properly prepared for shipping.

Project Scope

Once you’ve submitted all the required information, you will be notified that your project has been assigned to one of our Project Managers. The Project Manager will take all the project information and create a preliminary 3D model using Revit which will identify any intersectional, drafting, or component errors that need to be addressed. This process helps our clients understand the full scope of product supply and gives a great visual representation of the completed building. Produced from this 3D model are dimensioned floor layouts and 3D models that include wall heights as well as rough opening sizes and locations.

Client Approval

Any changes to the original project scope where the addition or removal of ICE Panels is requested, a proposed change notice will be sent to the client for sign off. Changes made at this point in the process will require client sign off before moving forward.

ICE Panel Production

After the client has signed off, the 3D model and structural requirements are sent to engineering for structural sizing. Once received, prefabrication and shop drawings are completed and sent to the engineer to be sealed. After that, your project is added to the production queue in our manufacturing plant. A project’s production timeline is heavily dependent on the size and scale of the project.

ICE Panel Packaging & Labelling

Once the panels are produced, they are processed, labelled, and bundled. Our standard shipping bundles are 8 feet wide, by the length of the panel, by maximum height allowed for transport. ICE Panels are packaged for shipping efficiency to keep transportation costs to a minimum. Custom packaging solutions can be offered, as some customers may not have access to heavy machinery to unload the bundles. All bundles are clearly marked, making it easy to locate and organize the ICE Panels on site.

Shipping

Greenstone projects are popping up across Canada and internationally, so we’ve become quite resourceful when it comes to finding the most competitive shipping solutions for our customers. We have built a solid network of shipping providers to cover all your shipping needs. Our Logistics Coordinator will work with you to ensure smooth sailing when it comes time to receive your ICE Panels.
